Competitors cross the Samuel Beckett Bridge 29/4/2012

The Samsung Night Run was recognised this week as the best Sporting Event of the Year at the Event Industry Awards.  It was a triumph for the brand and for Titan Marketing who conceived the idea and have executed brilliantly since first bringing the race to the Dublin Docklands in 2012.

The award was specifically for the expansion in 2014 where the race took the streets simultaneously in Dublin and Cork, shutting down both cities to traffic and bringing 20,000 onto the streets in the familiar luminous tops.

“2014 was a market first,” said Titan Marketing Director Declan Byrne.

“It was a first for Athletics Ireland to put on two such large sale and logistically complex events at the same time and is something we are incredibly privileged to be a part of.”

The award, sponsored by fellow Sport for Business member Bewleys Hotels was won against incredibly strong opposition with the Croke Park Classic, the Colour Run and the Killarney Adventure Race all on the shortlist.

Other sporting themed award winners included Compass Group for Best Catering at the Aviva Stadium, Carton House for best Hotel Venue and the Aviva Stadium itself for best Purpose Built Event Venue.
