Sexton has been outstanding in Ireland’s two RBS 6 Nations wins to date so drew a large media presence to Dublin Airport when launching a spring sale on flights to European destinations booked before next Sunday February 16th.
He is travelling backwards and forwards between Dublin and Paris almost weekly as he juggles commitments to Racing Metro on the club side with international training camps and matches.
“You think of Ireland straight away when you see an Aer Lingus plane and it really makes you look forward to getting home when you step on board,” said Sexton.
Apart from announcing the sale and having a series of pictures taken Sexton was also filmed in the You Tube clip below which showed the day and is intended to be shared across social platforms.
An ambassador role should make customers give an intangible edge to your brand when considering a purchase. For rugby fans the chance to sit beside a legend on a plane or in a departure lounge will only happen now if they are travelling Aer Lingus as opposed to on another carrier to Paris.
One disappointment is that imagery in the campaign did not feature across the regular email bulletin sent out last night by Aer Lingus. Something topical always catches the eye and may have delivered a more coherent message.
Rob Hartnett of Sport for Business will be addressing a PRII lunchtime seminar on the effective role of brand ambassadors at the National Concert Hall on February 19th. Click to learn more.
