We are pleased this morning to launch a new Monthly series of ‘Sport for Business Smart Minds’ gatherings.
The sessions will bring together different Sport for Business members to discuss matters that are of real and present interest to all of us in the commercial world of sport.
The first session will take place in February and cover the subject of the mixing of sport and protest.
From Palestine to Ukraine and Black Lives Matter to Just Stop Oil, sport has been drawn into political protest more than it has ever been.
The familiar refrain of not mixing sport and politics is still part of the language but is it still credible now that sport has crossed every threshold of engagement in our society?
Individual players and teams have come to the fore, risking sanction for speaking out but doing so regardless.
We will cover these and other points of interest and perhaps emerge with a new way of looking at this crucial area for fans, teams, players, administrators and sponsors.
In March we will get stuck into the question of sporting heritage and naming rights. Where are the lines that cannot be crossed and where does the revenue become the dominant factor?
Should sport make a stand for its historic value?
We will look at real-life examples of the good and the not-so-good.
Then in April, we will look at the question of Artificial Intelligence and what it means for sport.
From media and fan engagement to talent ID and so many other areas, the world is changing at a rapid pace.
We will bring together experts and the interested to see what we can make of where the sporting world and the world of AI are crossing over.
These sessions will be for Sport for Business members and invited guests and if you feel there is a subject you would like to participate in then let us know of your interest and we will see what is possible.
The aim is not to change the world but maybe to look at it through a different lens.
