RTÉ Sport and Core Sponsorship will compete this morning for a place in the semi finals of the Sport for Business Super Quiz 2020.
Core were the highest scoring winners from the Round of 16 but have been forced into making a couple of personnel changes today with Jill Downey and Sean Rea joining Phil Greene in place of Sarah Geoghegan and Noel Martyn. It is always good to have strength in depth.
RTÉ Sport were also in the top four scorers to get to this stage and James McMahon will once more lead their team on Conor neville and Eoin Ryan into the fray.
The action gets under way this morning and we will have a playback on the tie up on site this afternoon.
The Quarter-Finals got underway on Wednesday with the first contest having been played out between Legacy Communications and Pundit Arena.
Legacy took to the ‘field’ with Bernard Brogan, Kevin Moore and Emily Crawley, an unchanged line up from their win over AIG in the Round of 16.
There was a change to the lineup for Pundit Arena with Mick Corry stepping in for Matt Steerman and Fergus Farrell taking on the Captain’s armband alongside Marisa Kennedy.
Pundit sped into an early lead but then it was nip and tuck all the way through to the Final round which was sporting questions about the year of 2013.
It was an exercise in thought process as, on a number of occasions, teams managed to talk themselves into or out of the correct answer.
Our answers ranged from George H Bush to Ostriches, and Usain Bolt to the Shannon Pot.
We’ve been accused of setting a tough challenge throughout but we make no apologies for that. To be the best you have to earn the right. You can watch back the full tie below.
