They saw perhaps the best performance in a year from the team recording a victory over France to keep the dream of a Grand Slam alive in this the year when Ireland will host the Women’s Rugby World Cup down the N11 at UCD in August.

The game was live on television but that did not stop Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers fans turning out in force for the opening fixture of the SSE Airtricity League.

This was better than any of Dundalk’s home attendances in 2016 and as an absolute number was beaten only once last season.

There was a great atmosphere and it continues the positive mood surrounding the League this season.
