With half of the SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Premier Division clubs based in the capital there is a strong flavour of the capital across the domestic game.
It is then no harm that the draw for the Quarter Finals of the Sports Direct FAI Cup have thrown up a fixture list that will take in home fixtures in every other corner of the country.
The standout fixture is Drogheda United hosting Bohemians, with the other three seeing St Patrick’s Athletic heading to the North West and a meeting with Finn Harps, Galway united Hosting Dundalk and Wexford travelling west along the south coast to Cork City.
The fixtures will take place on the weekend of the 17th September and promise to deliver some very watchable games.
With Shamrock Rovers and Derry City out of the tournament there is a very open look to it this season.
The next round of the Women’s FAI Cup takes place this coming weekend with Athlone Town facing Galway United, Shamrock Rovers taking on Killester Donnycarney, Bohemians travelling south of the Liffey to face Cabinteely and Treaty United hosting Peamount United in the pick of the games.
