The Sports law BarAssociation holds its Winter Conference online this morning and has attracted a strong lineup of speakers to debate Major Events, Human Rights, Fan Engagement and Sustainability.
Linda Hoey from Rugby World Cup and Warren Deutrom from Cricket Ireland will look at the bidding process and the winning of events before Trudy Lindblade, CEO of the 2023 Cycling World Championship and Garret Tubridy of the IRFU who was Director of the Women’s Rugby World Cup held here in 2017 join to look at the issues that need to be managed once the event is on the ground. This session will be moderated by Susan Ahern
Louise Reilly will consider some of the human rights topics that are to the fore at present.
Then after a break, Áine Power, Legal Director of the International Equestrian Federation and Jim Aughney, Director of the KBC Dublin Marathon will be joined by Fintan Drury, founder of Platinum One to talk about fan engagement in a session hosted by former Chief Justice Frank Clarke.
The session rounds out with Trudy Linblade taking a look at sustainability in a sporting context.
The Conference will be opened by Cian Ó Lionáin from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
