The business behind the Sport Industry Awards in Britain have announced that they will this year be hosting the first Sport Podcast awards.

More than four million people in Britain listed to a sports podcast in 2020 according to research into the growth of the medium.

Entries for the awards will be accepted from across the globe when details of the Awards and the categories are announced towards the end of May?

TV Presenter Gabby Logan, former Sky Sports Managing Director Barney Francis and Facebook’s Director of Global Partnerships Peter Hutton will be among the high profile judging panel.

“For many years I’ve been in front of the microphone, but now the Sport Podcast Awards gives me the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes with the immensely talented presenters and producers coming through,” said Logan.

“I cannot wait to get started on what promises to be a really exciting journey in a truly fast-growing space for sport.”

Ireland has been to the fore in producing sports podcasts with OTB, Joe, Balls, RTÉ and a number of others producing high quality, regular series that will surely merit consideration when the Awards come to fruition.

RTÉ, Off The Ball, TG4, Sky, Pundit Arena and are among more than 250+ members of the Sport for Business network of sporting and business organisations working together across a number of key areas.
