StatSports 2014Irish technology firm and Sport for Business member StatSports has signed a two year deal with English Football League club Coventry City to sponsor their away kit and home shorts over the next two years.

The deal also means Coventry players and coaching staff will have access to the full range of performance analysis service that StatSports provides.

The Newry based firm works with a host of leading football clubs including Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona as well as the German FA, Ulster and Connacht Rugby, Donegal GAA and the IRFU.

The company provides a huge range of fitness data and performance monitoring through its software system. Players wear a small Viper pod during training and practice games which measures and transmits the data.   This can either be monitored live or collected and analysed post game by coaching staff.

“We are delighted to begin our partnership with Coventry City Football Club, a club with an iconic and fantastic history,” said StatSports founder and managing director Alan Clarke.

“As part of our relationship it will be our privilege to supply our technology to the club from first team down to academy level.”

“In the 4-5 years that I have worked with STATSports, in a number of different sports, the monitoring of player fitness and player welfare has been taken to the next level,” according to Gary O’Driscoll, former Head Doctor with the IRFU and British and Irish Lions and now with Arsenal FC.

“Their close allegiance and constant communication with the sports science and medical departments, as well as with the players has ensured an excellent working relationship and has allowed integration of the data into daily training plans.”

Sport for Business is currently working on a number of exciting projects around the crossover between technology and sport, a number of which will be coming to fruition between now and the end of 2014.
