It’s April Fools Day today but while laughter is an important tonic in these challenging times we have held back on what has become an annual ritual of trying to raise eyebrows with a story that may have only a tiny element of truth.
In previous years we have unveiled the trial with Donegal GAA of Usain Bolt, the sale of GAA Media Rights to Al Jazeera (on the day before the Sky deal was first unveiled), and the recognition of eSports by Sport Ireland.
We had a peach of a one for this year as well but we learned as part of yesterday’s first Sport for business Live webinar, that if you have to think whether the tone is right, then it probably isn’t we will put it back on ice until we come around to this date in the diary in 2021.
For 2020 let’s play the ultimate trick on COVID-19 by staying and working from home where we can, reducing our physical social contacts and doing what we can as individuals to flatten the curve.
