Sport Ireland has begun the recruitment process for someone to lead the organisation’s strategy around Women in Sport.
The position will play a major role in implementing the strategy to emerge from last years review of this crucial area, the results of which are expected to be published in the coming weeks.
It is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in how sport caters for and encourages half the population to get involved and stay involved as players, coaches, administrators and in every aspect of sport.
The job description says that this is “a key leadership role ensuring that Sport Ireland acts authoritatively and strategically as the expert public agency to develop and promote women and girls involvement in sport from leadership to participation to high performance.”
“This role will contribute to the delivery of Sport Ireland’s strategic vision of ‘developing a world-class sports sector operating to the highest standards of governance and accountability’.”
“A key output for the successful candidate will be to lead, advocate for and evaluate Sport Ireland’s Women in Sport Policy with a vision to develop a wider inclusion remit within the organisation.”
The newly created role will be on a fixed term three-year contract and the successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Participation and Ethics, Dr Una May.
The job specification is geared towards somebody already working at a high level within the sports sector and the list of responsibilities suggests they will have a real control and strong influence over the development of policy and implementation across all areas of Women in Sport from programmes and initiatives to partnerships and key stakeholder relationships.
The recruitment process is being managed by Orange recruitment and those wishing to apply should send a CV and cover letter to Tanya Madigan, Orange Recruitment, 46 Dawson Street, Dublin 2.
