The Quarter Finals in the TG4 All Ireland Ladies Football Championship were decided over the weekend.

It will bring a focus back to the Championship after a number of one-sided games in the group stages.

These included a 22-point win for Dublin over Kildare and a 35-point victory for Galway over Laois yesterday.

The challenge is that in four three-team groups, with two progressing and one likely to be a challenger team coming up from the Intermediate level, there can be a lack of jeopardy and an imbalance in quality.

The rising teams will only get better, though, by playing against the strongest opposition. The two teams well beaten yesterday will now face Donegal and Tipperary in relegation semi-finals. The winners of both will retain Senior Status, and the losers will meet again to avoid a drop to Intermediate.

The three that survive will bounce back stronger and it is notable that both Meath and Kerry have come up from intermediate in recent years and gone onto win or contest All Ireland Senior Finals.

At the other end of the action, Dublin and Galway will face each other, with Cork and Waterford on the same side of the draw.

Kerry will host Meath and Armagh Mayo on the other side. All four games will take place on the weekend of July 6th and 7th, and TG4 will televise or stream them live.

The Semi-Finals will take place in a big Double Header in Tullamore on Saturday, July 20th.

Sport for Business will host its Annual Women in Sport Conference on Thursday, November 28th. This is one of many events planned for the remainder of 2024.
