Sport for Business understands that the FAI has moved swiftly to appoint a replacement for commercial director Max Hamilton, who returned to the UK at the end of 2014.
The new man at the helm is believed to be joining from the banking sector and to have held senior positions within planning and strategy, albeit not specifically in marketing or sponsorship.
That may prompt a reshuffling of responsibilities within the senior management team as the FAI prepares to host matches as part of the UEFA European Championships in 2020 and more immediately seeks to tie down an extension of the Association’s principal sponsorship agreement with Three over the next 18 months.
Interestingly we also believe the new appointment has played a role at a high level within another sport on this island.
