We like listening to podcasts at Sport for Business and every now and again we come across an episode that we feel will be of real interest to our members.
Each Thursday we will highlight one such episode that might be of interest when you are out for a walk, on your way home or looking for something that will make you think.
They will mostly be around and about the business of sport, they will come from all over the world and while if you are a podcast aficionado you may have heard them already, it is still something that is of value to those who haven’t.
This week we celebrate the start this weekend of the new F1 season, already ratcheted up in terms of interest by the fifth season of Drive to Survive on Netflix and with storylines aplenty.
There are multiple official and unofficial podcasts dedicated to the sport but one which we like and which had a good preview of the season and some of the key storylines this week is the Shift F1 podcast.
It has been around since 2014 and is hosted by two Americans Rob Zacny and Drew Scanlon and the unmistakably Irish lilt of Danny O’Dwyer.
Because they are unofficial they can take a more irreverent look at some of the personalities and the scandals. This week’s episode is particularly good on the rules looking to prevent drivers from speaking out on social justice matters, and where the pressure for that has been coming.
It does not uproot any trees suggesting that red Bull will once again be the strongest team but it does highlight one team from the middle of the pack that could be coming for Mercedes…

Our latest id the first of our Business of Football series, in partnership with Sky, where we chat with Mark Scanlon of the FAI and Leanne Sheill of SSE Airtricity about the new League of Ireland campaign.
