The publication of an annual calendar of sporting events was always a feature of our annual Sporting Year Ahead event in January. At times though while it was fine for the early months of the year, it began to shift a little and become less relevant.
In response to feedback from the members who joined us this January, we are reviving the Calendar but doing it on a monthly basis so it will be as up-to-date as it can be.
We cannot feature every event but we will endeavour to include all the big ones and a number of the national events that are important to sports across our wider membership.
We will publish each monthly calendar on the first working day of the month or the last working day of the previous month if that falls on a weekend.
In March the Guinness Six Nations will come to its finale, hopefully with a Championship at least or a Grand Slam at best for Ireland. Super Saturday is on March 18th, just after the conclusion of the Cheltenham Festival which will hold the nation in thrall during St Patrick’s Week. The Champion Hurdle is on the Tuesday and the Gold Cup on Thursday.
International Football will burst back into view at the end of the month when The Republic of Ireland entertain France in the opening round of the Euro 2024 Qualification process. By that time on Monday evening the 27th, Northern Ireland will have played their first two games against San Marino and Finland.
The SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Men’s Leagues are up and running and the Women’s Premier Division will join them on Friday 4th March. International Women’s Day will have a host of sporting events on the 8th and the TikTok Women’s Six Nations gets started with Ireland in Wales on Saturday the 25th.
From a Sport for Business perspective, our 30 Under 30 for 2023 with PwC will run throughout this month with a new star of the future identified each day from in and around the commercial world of sport. We will host a special Football Business Breakfast the morning after the night before on March 28th and then roll into the PExpo Event for schools on the 29th and the One-Zero Conference over two days at the Aviva Stadium on the 29th and 30th.
If you have an event you would like us to feature in April please do get in touch. Have a great sporting month ahead.
