Five moments which capture the long weekend of sport in Ireland and further afield.
7 – The number of Irish finalists at the European Schoolboys boxing Championships which took place throughout last week at Citywest in Dublin. It was a number bettered only by Russia and the Ukraine. Aaron McKenna (pictured) and Jordan Myres won Gold.
13 – The number of individual scorers on the Mayo team that turned around a four point defeat in last year’s All Ireland Football Final into a 16 point victory in Sunday’s quarter final.
211 – The number of games for which Baseball’s highest paid player Alex Rodriguez has been banned for following his being found guilty on a variety of doping charges over multiple years.
127,568 – The seven day aggregate attendance at the 2013 Galway Races which came to an end on Sunday. The figure was down slightly on 2012 as a result of storms on Wednesday.
25,000,000 – The amount in pounds sterling bid by Chelsea for Man United striker Wayne Rooney which was turned down instantly by United management. The other worldliness of the Premier League is just around the corner.
