The Sporting Year Ahead event took place on Thursday morning in front of a virtual audience of over 200 members of the Sport for Business community.
Conversations that took place with some of the leading figures in Irish sport and business.
These include Chris Bird, CEO of Sports Tours Ireland, Martin Murphy, CEO of the Aviva Stadium and Jonathan Hill, CEO of the FAI.
This morning’s interview is with Peter Sherrard, CEO of the Olympic Federation of Ireland.
“We have a very high degree of confidence that the Tokyo Games will go ahead, albeit in altered circumstances.”
“It is a challenge but it’s one that we are working closely on with sports and athletes.”
“The Olympics will be all in across all the sports. We expect to be competing in 14 sports. We have 52 athletes qualified and we expect that number to rise as qualification procedures play out.”
“We have seen examples where some of our athletes have been targeted on social media. That is something we have absolutely no time for and sport as a whole needs to stand up to those issues.”
