The Sporting Year Ahead event took place on Thursday morning in front of a virtual audience of over 200 members of the Sport for Business community.
Over the course of the coming days, we will release recordings of the conversations that took place with some of the leading figures in Irish sport and business.
These include Peter Sherrard, CEO of the Olympic Federation of Ireland, Chris Bird, CEO of Sports Travel International, Martin Murphy, CEO of the Aviva Stadium and others from the sporting and business worlds.
To get things underway we were joined in conversation by Jonathan Hill, CEO of the Football Association of Ireland for a look ahead to the challenges sport will face in 2021 but also to the opportunities.
It is the first long-form interview which Hill has done since coming on board into the role before Christmas and he comes across as a very personable character with the right skills and the right approach to get Irish soccer back on an even keel.
We talk about the importance of the balance to be struck between participation at grassroots and the success of National teams; at the boost from having SSE Airtricity commit to sponsorship and the prospect of working with brands; of the desire to carry on hosting the Euro 2020 Finals at the Aviva Stadium in June and at getting fans back into the stadium as soon as is both possible and in line with public health.
Join us again for the conversations with our other guest speakers, a look at the world of sponsorship in 2021 and at the trends in terms of sport and exercise revealed by our friends and partners Teneo.
