Digital media InfographicWe came across this interesting article on future trends in digital marketing to sports fans which we felt was worth sharing with you as a member of the Sport for Business Community.

Among the future trends highlighted are a growing trend among rights holders and especially athletes to control their own media.  The Chicago Bears in the NFL for example now produce no fewer than eight individual TV shows, all of which are fully sponsored and offering additional opportunities for commercial partners.

There are some interesting stats based around mobile usage with a breakdown of the 150 times a day modern customers, your customers and fans reach for their phones.  Messaging comes out top at 23 times a day, ahead of voice calls, time checks, social media interaction and browsing.

Mobile browsing has overtaken the desktop variant already in China and it is interesting that Paddy Power now derive 43% of their online revenues through mobile, an increase of 101% over the first six months of 2012, even though that included the finals of Euro 2012.
