Three RugbyThis weekend saw the first appearance of Three on an Irish rugby shirt since the takeover of O2 earlier in the summer.

Players were given their new training kit, another first for Canterbury since their returned by replacing Puma earlier this year at a three day training camp being held ahead of the start of the new season.

Three’s takeover of the sponsorship of the national Rugby team to go alongside it’s support of the FAI and the national soccer team is confirmed for the next two years at a minimum and will take in next year’s Rugby World Cup in England.

Three Irish RugbyThree CEO Robert Finnegan was at the Aviva Stadium to meet Ireland coach Joe Schmidt on Saturday and the players got to see their first glimpse of the newly branded training gear yesterday.

The new kit will be unveiled in full in early October ahead of the Guinness Series of Autumn Internationals and will be a big boost for Three’s takeover of the branding coming at such an important time for the team.

“Excitement is growing around the launch of the new Ireland playing kit,” said Canterbury CEO Chris Stephenson.  “However our training range also plays a large role in this partnership. The players wear this daily while in camp and their conditioning is critical to on-field success. We’ve worked closely with the team to gain insight and made sure it not only looks good, but performs to the high standard consumers expect from us.”
