Monday, June 23rd – Dutch Gold or Hot Chile
anigif_enhanced-23385-1403186865-1If you’ve not heard the Chile fans sing the national anthem, try and do so today.  FIFA restricts the anthems to only 90 seconds but that’s had little impact on the fans of Chile, Colombia and others who, when the music stops, pour everything into singing for their country to its proper end.  It will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck.
Jorge Sampaoli has led Chile to wins over Spain and Australia and a guaranteed place in the knockout stages.  Whether that is against Brazil depends on today’s game against the Netherlands but Sampaoli already deserves credit as the manager of the tournament.  He hails from Argentina, had his playing career ended through injury at 19 and only took over as Chile manager at the end of 2012.
Man United fans will of course be delighted at how Louis Van Gaal has led the Netherlands to such an impressive start.  It is not known whether he had any words of comfort for Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and others of those whose spirits he will have to lift in a few short weeks…
Business Brief
The Dutch team has sparkled on the pitch and off it at this World Cup.  The Dutch FA has just signed a 12 year deal with Nike to support the senior men’s and women’s teams as well as youth football, street leagues and more.

The FA has a total support staff of over 90 people at the tournament, including five from their PR company assisting with community projects.
Budweiser has booked out one of Copacabana’s premier hotels, all 247 rooms of it for a month to host and entertain individuals from around the world.  The bill comes to over €1 Million.  Now that’s activation.
