Triathlon Ireland has unveiled its new website catering for the massive growth in mobile and tablet traffic from an expanding membership.

“We’ve been working on a new website for quite some time now so are really pleased to be able to launch it along with membership for the 2016 season,” said Triathlon Ireland Marketing, Communications and Sponsorship Manager Scott Graham.

“The previous site was fine for where we were at as an organisation and a sport back in 2010 but as we’ve grown to almost 10,500 members, 205 events, 87 clubs along with hundreds of volunteers, a new website with improved functionally for everyone who interacts with Triathlon Ireland was a must.”

“One of the great benefits of the new website is the fact it’s fully mobile and tablet optimized so you get a great experience while browsing the site on the go. We can also now take payments easily via mobile, allowing users to sign up for races, clubs, workshops and membership from their mobile and tablet which just makes the lives of our users that little bit easier.”

“Over 50% of traffic to triathlonireland.com has been via mobile and tablet over the past year and with the new website in place we’ve seen a 20% drop in the bounce rate already thanks improved usability and navigation of the site.”

“While the front of the site is what everyone sees initially and thankfully we’ve received some very positive feedback on this, the database and back end functionality is equally as important for us.”

“The new site will include things such as discount codes and preferential registration windows which can be used by our race organisers and we provide these at an extremely low cost to try and minimise the financial and administrative burden on our affiliated clubs and sanctioned races as much as possible.”

“The site is far from the finished article and we’re looking into the possibility of having membership identification available on your mobile as well as our traditional cards and generally making the technology and database work for us as much as possible.”

The 2016 membership packages will include a €20 voucher for the Cycle Superstore who are moving to new premises in Tallaght in January.

“Cycle SuperStore is delighted to be partnering with Triathlon Ireland for the upcoming 2016 season,” said Philip Ellis.

“The growing rate of triathlon in Ireland is fantastic to see. Our new store could not be coming at a better time for triathletes. With Ironman and Challenge events set to be staged here again in 2016, we look forward to kitting out Ireland’s triathletes.”
