Volleyball Ireland’s international Women’s team has secured the backing of a new sponsor and will be hoping to give an immediate return through competing live today in Luxembourg as part of the Small Countries Championships that take place today.
WED Consulting has committed to becoming the Women’s Team Sponsor for 2019, the first time a commercial sponsor has come on board with the team and a real boost for the sport ahead of hosting an Olympic Qualifier here next month.
The Dublin based consultancy firm specialises in project management on development and construction projects in Ireland and abroad.
“We are thrilled to be involved with Volleyball Ireland in one of the most exciting team sports there is,” said Managing Director Kevin Murphy.
“We see great potential for the sport in Ireland and we look forward to supporting the development of Irish Volleyball at an International level in the years ahead.”

Ireland get their campaign underway today against the Faroe Islands at noon Irish Time before taking on Scotland at 5 pm. The competition also sees Greenland, Northern Ireland and hot favourites Luxembourg competing. The games will be streamed live through the Federation Luxembourg Volleyball facebook page.

It’s a big few weeks for Volleyball Ireland with the Beach Volleyball Continental Cup, part of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Qualification pathway coming to Bettystown over the June Bank Holiday. Eight Teams from across Europe will be competing.
