Throughout this week across the UK sports and athletes are coming together under the single banner of Women’s Sport Week.
It has been a way to highlight the depth and range of opportunities to engage in sport at every level from a gentle stroll to the Fifa World Cup.
It’s the culmination of much work that has gone in to developing the profile of Women’s Sport and provides a clear focus in what might otherwise be a crowded marketplace.
Mass media and social media have weighed in and there is a real sense of celebration about what can be done through sport across all sectors of society.
Across our own social media we have been asking what it would take to deliver a Women’s Sports Week for Ireland.
The answers have come back that a core group of committed people can achieve whatever they set their mind to. We agree.
Over the coming days and weeks we will invite those who have expressed an interest, from sport, from communities, from Government, from media and from commercial sponsors to come together and explore the possible.
If you think you can add your skills to making something happen that could really matter to the health and wellbeing of our country, let your voice be heard, and let’s see what can be done.
