5,000 runners drawn from companies across the country will pound the Phoenix Park this evening as the return of the PwC Staff Relay Run marks another major step in getting back to normal.

Over 2,000 runners took part in the first night of racing last night and that number will swell to the maximum of 5,000 tonight.

The event sees teams of four each running 5 km legs around a circuit that loops back in the final kilometre through the tented village where fellow runners and colleagues can cheer them on.

It was very successful when running up to 2019 and has now made a welcome return to the Sporting Workplace landscape.

The success of the event will be one element of a Sport for Business Members Round Table event on June 9th where we will look at the role of sport in encouraging people back into the workplace.

This Staff Relay is an event for organisations of all sizes and stature – from small local businesses to large multinationals. The ambition is to expand over more nights as has been the case in Copenhagen.

The roll call of those who take part is a who’s who of Irish business.

This year the race sponsors PwC have over 120 teams entered with 600 staff participating in what promises to be an exciting event for all.
