
A massive crowd is expected with fans in Dublin for the All Ireland Hurling Final swelling the attendance. There are strong greyhound links and racing stadia in both Galway and Kilkenny.
Greyhound Racing fans from across the world will be able to view the Final action live. RTE will broadcast live on RTE 2 in Ireland, but also worldwide on the RTE website, from 8.30 – 9.30pm. The programme will then become available to view on the RTE Player for the following 3 weeks. Galway Bay FM will also be broadcasting live on the night while al the thrills and drama of the night will be replayed next week through the popular Greyhound View programme on TG4 and Setanta Sport.
Razldazl George is bidding to become only the second dog in history to win back to back derby’s but has been overtaken in the betting sentiment by rival Skywalker Puma who is expected to start favourite. The two dogs are trained respectively by sisters Dolores Ruth and Frances O’Donnell.
Tyrur Sugar Ray would be a popular winner for the Galway contingent in the crowd and provide a follow-up to trainer Conor Fahy’s 2010 1-2 when he was only 21 years of age.
The Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby offers over €225,000 in prize money, with €120,000 going to the winner of tonight’s race. It celebrates its 80th anniversary this year.
Along with the racing action, the crowd will be entertained with live music before racing from Aslan.
