Today is one of our favourite sporting days of the year and we will be live at the PExpo at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena throughout the day.

Hundreds of children from across the country are setting up their projects in the tenth year of this sporting equivalent of the Young Scientist exhibition.

This year’s event will be the biggest and the best with the backing of Dare to believe, PTSB and the Olympic Federation of Ireland.

With the support of the Physical Education Association of Ireland, the aim of PExpo is to promote a better understanding of PE, sport, fitness and health among second level students. Winners of the PExpo have gone on to study sport and science.

In 2021, the Overall Winners of the PExpo went on to claim the BT Young Scientist top prize the following year.

Sport for Business has long been an active supporter and we will be awarding the Sport for Business Prize for the project which we deem to have the best chance of being rolled out as a viable business in years to come.

The last two years have seen this prize go to a protein snack business and a bicycle road safety initiative.

We will be on site judging the entries and presenting the winners today.

They will also have the opportunity to present their idea and talk to our Sport for Business Children and Sport Conference on Friday, May 17th.

Before the prizegiving, Rob Hartnett will be interviewing Dare to Believe ambassadors Ellen Walshe Shane O’Donoghue and Leon Dwyer about their journeys through Sport and their hopes for the future.

As well as Dare to Believe, PTSB and the Olympic Federation PExpo supporters include the Physical Education Association of Ireland, Sport Ireland, Dublin City Sport and Wellbeing, Active Cities and DCU Sport.

We will have a report from the Sport Ireland Campus later and details of all the winners tomorrow morning.
