Rowing Ireland has announced a new and transformative partnership with F4energy, a leading Irish renewable energy company, which joins as the sport’s Official Sustainability Partner for the next two years.

The collaboration is the next step in Rowing Ireland’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and the advancement of sustainable practices across Irish sport.

Founded in 2001 and based in Limerick, F4energy has over two decades of experience in energy efficiency and solar power solutions for the commercial and industrial sectors. Its four-step approach—measure, invest, implement, and maximise—aligns closely with Rowing Ireland’s ambition to reduce environmental impact and inspire greener practices throughout the rowing community.

“We are thrilled to welcome F4energy as our Official Sustainability Partner,” said Deirdre Lysaght, Commercial & Communications Manager at Rowing Ireland.

“Their proven track record in renewable energy and shared commitment to innovation make them a perfect fit for Rowing Ireland. Together, we are taking meaningful steps to embed sustainability into the heart of our sport, from our facilities at the National Rowing Centre to participation events nationwide.”

Powering the National Rowing Centre

A flagship project under the new agreement will see F4energy install a solar energy system at the National Rowing Centre (NRC) in Cork. The initiative will reduce the NRC’s carbon footprint and lower long-term operational energy costs, while serving as a national example of renewable energy integration in sport.

With experience delivering systems ranging from 20kWe to 800kWe, F4energy will bring high-performance, future-proof solar technology to the home of Irish rowing—reflecting shared values of innovation, resilience, and responsibility.

Supporting Grassroots and Lifelong Rowers

The partnership also extends to the grassroots level, with F4energy sponsoring the 1K Classic for Juniors & Masters regatta, reinforcing both organisations’ dedication to supporting participation and inclusivity—from young athletes to lifelong rowers.

“Partnering with Rowing Ireland gives us the opportunity to showcase how renewable energy can make a tangible difference—not just for organisations, but for entire communities,” said Andrew O’Connell, Managing Director of F4energy. “We are proud to support an NGB that shares our belief in sustainable progress and look forward to helping power the future of Irish rowing.”
