The dates and venues for Ireland’s two major professional golf opens are now confirmed for 2027, placing the Amgen Irish Open at The K Club in July and the KPMG Women’s Irish Open at Dún Laoghaire Golf Club in August.
The Amgen Irish Open will return to The K Club from July 1st to 4th, significantly earlier than its recent September position in the DP World Tour calendar. The change comes in a year when the Ryder Cup will also be staged in Ireland, at Adare Manor from September 17th to 19th.
The move places the Irish Open at the beginning of the DP World Tour’s Closing Swing for one season and creates an intriguing run of tournaments for leading European players.
The Genesis Scottish Open follows at The Renaissance Club from July 8th to 11th, before the 155th Open Championship is staged at St Andrews, with championship play from July 15th to 18th.
That positioning could help attract a strong international field to Kildare, with players already in Europe and preparing for the final men’s Major Championship of the season.
The K Club last hosted the Amgen Irish Open in 2025 when Rory McIlroy won the title, while Shane Lowry will arrive as defending champion following his victory at Doonbeg in September 2026.
It will form part of an extraordinary year for Irish golf, culminating in the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.
The KPMG Women’s Irish Open will meanwhile take place at Dún Laoghaire Golf Club from August 2nd to 8th, 2027, bringing the Ladies European Tour event to the Dublin and Wicklow border for the first time.
The move was announced earlier this summer and follows the 2026 championship at The K Club.
Dún Laoghaire Golf Club is located on a 320-acre site at Ballyman Glen, close to the Sugarloaf Mountains. Martin Hawtree designed its 27-hole layout, and it previously staged the Curtis Cup in 2016.
The location will also put the championship within relatively easy reach of Dublin city and the wider commuter belt, something tournament organisers believe can help build further on the event’s strong growth in attendance since its return to the Ladies European Tour calendar in 2022.
The timing may also be significant for the strength of the field.
The AIG Women’s Open will be played at Royal St George’s from July 28th to August 1st, meaning the leading players in women’s golf will already be in this part of Europe immediately before the Irish event.
The KPMG Women’s Irish Open has grown rapidly since its revival and was voted Tournament of the Year by Ladies European Tour players in both 2024 and 2025. KPMG and Sport Ireland remain central partners in developing an event that has increasingly combined elite competition with hospitality, family entertainment, and broader promotion of women’s golf.
Sport for Business Perspective
Confirming the calendar puts another piece in place for what will be one of the biggest years Irish golf has experienced.
The calendar also clearly separates the country’s three major international golf moments: the Amgen Irish Open at The K Club in early July, the KPMG Women’s Irish Open at Dún Laoghaire in early August, and the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in September.
From a commercial perspective, that creates three distinct windows for sponsors, broadcasters, hospitality and tourism rather than having the events compete for attention in the same period.
The July date for the Amgen Irish Open is particularly interesting. Its position immediately ahead of the Scottish Open and The Open gives Ireland the opportunity to become part of a concentrated period of European golf for the world’s leading players.
For the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, the move closer to Dublin and its positioning immediately after the AIG Women’s Open offer similar opportunities around players and spectators.
The K Club will effectively hand over the baton between the two national Opens, having staged the women’s championship in 2026 before welcoming the men back in 2027, while Dún Laoghaire becomes the latest venue to benefit from the women’s event’s growing profile and ambition.
With the Ryder Cup still to come at Adare Manor in September, 2027 is shaping up as a landmark year for golf as a sporting, commercial and tourism asset for Ireland.
