U2 will be there as will a number of stars from the sports world.  That’s not surprising when sport is such a major driver of content.  The new NFL season kicked off on Thursday night, accompanied by NFL.com previewing a 90 second ‘All you need to know’ package showing the major plays from the previous night’s game and specifically aimed at smartphone users on the go.

63% of searches around this year’s Champions’ League final were done through mobile and sport is the principal driver of the social TV phenomena where people watch and share live as part of a global community through having smartphones to hand while watching on internet enabled TV’s.

It will be interesting to see to what extent sport features as part of tonight’s iPhone 6 launch.  It will be even more so to see how the technology advances it will need to deliver to back up estimated sales of 100 million devices in the first three months enable the easier and greater consumption, and monetisation of sport.

Early Bird tickets for the Sport for Business Autumn Series on Digital Sport are on sale now.  Make sure you are ahead of the game in how sport will be viewed tomorrow…
