The new Adidas Munster Rugby jerseys will go on sale this weekend across all Lifestyle Sports stores around Ireland.

The home kit will be worn for the first time when Munster take on Grenoble in a pre-season friendly game at Thomond Park on Friday August 14th.

The kit is part of a new consistent approach to the brand’s jersey designs which will also be reflected in the All Black and French kits at the Rugby World Cup.

According to the statement accompanying news of the launch Adidas reveal that

“The home and alternate jerseys embrace the rebirth of the provincial tartan and conceptualises the close link between Munster Rugby and the six counties of Munster: Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford through the tartan design which is carried throughout.”

“The home jersey embodies a deeper, enriched mix of power and collegiate red. The names of the six Munster counties are featured in the nape of the military style collar with the club motto, ‘To the Brave and Faithful Nothing is Impossible’ embroidered into the inside neck of the jersey.”

“The alternate jersey takes a more modern approach to the provincial tartan with black, dark grey and onix colouring standing bold against the bright red of the logos and jersey numbering. As per the home jersey, the alternate kit also features the club motto in the nape of the military style collar along with the names of the six Munster counties.”

With the loss of Paul O’Connell to Toulon, at least for now, and the competing attraction of the Ireland World Cup jersey in the mix as well the new Munster jersey had to look pretty cool to keep up sales.  We think it has hit the mark.

Join us tomorrow when we’ll have a look at the new trends linking sports and leisure wear and how it is taking clothes retailing by storm.
