Through the Rugby World Cup we will be keeping an eye out for the quirky and the amusing stories on the sidelines that relate to the business of sport.
The biggest shock in sporting history
They had never met in Rugby but South Africa and Japan was one of those games where the script was clear.  The bookmakers had the Springboks as favourites to win by a colossal 53 points.  It was to be more of a one sided contest that Dublin against Kilkenny in Gaelic Football.  It’s just that Japan did not read the script.
This was more than Munster against the All Blacks, more than the Jamaican bob sleigh team at the Winter Olympics.  This was sport at its very best…
 

And the award for the brand that made the most of it…
 
Heineken will sell more pints and score more brand mentions through the World Cup but in the opening days it has been Guinness that have made the most running.  This quick reaction to the Japanese triumph will be used as a masterclass in capturing the moment…
