Ireland’s position as the undisputed fan Kings of world football is under serious threat after a country with a population less than one tenth of ours turned football’s pecking order upside down last night, and celebrated like it was always going to happen.
The engagement between players and fans last night in Nice was a wonderful reaction to an amazing football performance that saw them fully deserving of a Quarter Final place against France on Sunday. They did the same after victory over Austria earlier in the tournament.
