
The seminars will take place at the college on the second Monday of each month commencing Monday 10th October and running through to June 2017.
Among the subjects to be covered will be Nutrition for Performance; Performance Analysis; Concussion Awareness and Management; High Intensity training and the use of supplements.
Griffith College Offers Life Beyond Sport Course for Athletes
ITT will draw on lecturers from the Sport and Health Science course at the college to deliver the sessions which will be free of charge but must be registered for in advance via an email to info@sdcp.ie.
The first lecture on nutrition for athletes will be delivered by Marcus Shortall, Nutritionist with the Connacht Senior and Academy Rugby Squads and holder of a Masters Degree in sport and exercise nutrition from Loughborough University.
Last year the College delivered scholarship assistance to 42 sporting players from eight different sports as part of a partnership with South Dublin County Council.
The rapid growth in numbers of courses dedicated to sport at third level in Ireland will be reflected in the coming together of a new group on Sport and Education being formed within the Sport for Business Community.
The first meeting of this group will take place in November and will look at ways in which colleges, sports organisations and business can work closer together to deliver world class education for the sporting leaders of tomorrow.
