eir Sport is adding a seventh channel to its sports pack with the coming on stream of the BoxNation channel.
Irish fans will get to see Commonwealth Super-Flyweight Champion Jamie Conlan take on Yader Cardoza in their rescheduled bout in Belfast on Friday, March 10 with Olympic medalist Paddy Barnes fighting on the same card.
Undefeated WBO World Lightweight Champion Terry Flanagan will defend his belt against Petr Petrov at the Manchester Arena on April 8, the same night that two-time Olympic Flyweight gold medallist Nicola Adams makes her professional debut.
On Saturday, May 6, Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr meet in an all Mexican grudge match live on BoxNation in one of the most eagerly anticipated fights of the year, with many more big fights in the pipeline.
No broadcast details have yet been confirmed for Michael Conlan’s professional debut at Madison Square Garden on St Patrick’s weekend but eir Sport Operations Director Brian Quinn told Sport for Business yesterday that they would be looking to get as many irish fighters onto the schedule as possible.
the eir Sports pack is available free to eir Broadband customers as well as on the Sky platform. An ongoing dispute over value means that Virgin Media does not carry the channels and the addition of more content on top of the full range of BT Sport programming will increase pressure from customers for that to be resolved.
“We are very excited to officially add Box Nation to the eir Sport pack. Ireland has always had an excellent reputation amongst the boxing community and we are delighted to now be in a position to bring the very best boxing action to fans in Ireland,” said Glen Killane, Managing Director of eir TV and Sport said.
“This announcement further demonstrates eir Sport’s commitment to increasing the breadth of live sports on our pack strengthening our position as Ireland’s number one sports broadcaster.
