London Irish Rugby Club is to develop a Centre of Excellence beside its existing home in Sunbury to the south west of London.
The club has received planning permission for the development of other lands which will include construction of 206 new houses. Local community groups will have access to the rugby facilities as part of the conditions on the development.
Ian Humphreys from Ulster and Tomas O’Leary from Munster have joined the club as it seeks to kick on from the mid table position it achieved in last season’s Aviva Premiership.
London Irish will be playing in next season’s Amlin Cup and will be hoping to make it through to the final at the RDS in Dublin in May.
