Ireland will wear new home and alternate kits for the first time during the Guinness November Series of internationals next month.
Canterbury is the official kit supplier to the Irish Rugby team and it has released details of the kit which will be worn throughout the 2018/19 season but is likely to be replaced again before the World Cup which will be taking place this time next year.
The simplified and streamlined all green Home jersey will be worn for the first time when Ireland travel to face Italy in Soldier Field, Chicago on November 3rd, and for the first time at home against the All Blacks two weeks later.
The alternate jersey in teal green with dark blue accents makes its debut against the United States on November 24th in the Aviva Stadium.
The removal of stretch fibres is reported by Canterbury technicians to increase jersey strength while the all new green low-profile neckline “eliminates distraction, increases comfort and sets new standards with a 1,100 Newton breaking point.”
The end product of the science is the most technically advanced Ireland jersey ever boasting enhanced strength, durability, flexibility, player comfort, moisture wicking and weatherproofing.
The range went on sale in Intersport Elverys stores and online yesterday and also includes a wide range of replica and team wear options.
The standard ‘Pro’ Jersey is retailing at €84 for adults and €60 for junior and infant sizes while there is a ‘Test’ version that would leave little to chance in terms of however sculpted your body might be that comes in at a tasty €114.
The Irish Rugby official online store is currently selling last year’s kit at a 50 percent discount.
Canterbury is backing the launch with its “One Team, Powered Up” campaign paying tribute to the club, player, supporter, volunteer and parent, without whom there can be no international success.
“This the fifth year of our partnership with the IRFU and we’re proud to have played a role in the incredible successes experienced by the team on the pitch and in the lives of supporters who’ve journeyed with them along the way,” said Simon Rowe, Head of Sports Marketing at Canterbury of New Zealand.
“Function and performance is at the heart of everything we do but we acknowledge that looking good is a component of performance. We believe that this range offers the best of both worlds, an elite performance garment with looks to match.”
“As we enter this exciting season for Irish Rugby, the IRFU is delighted to unveil the new Ireland Home and Alternate jerseys range in partnership with Canterbury,” added IRFU Commercial and Marketing Director Padraig Power.
“The kits will be worn across the Guinness Series this November and we look forward to seeing the team run out in it in Chicago and at the Aviva.”
