European Week of Sport kicks off today and will run across the next seven days with Sport Ireland as the main promoter in Ireland.

The aim is to promote sport and physical activity, together with its many benefits of physical and mental wellbeing, confidence and morale.

It has never been more important than this year of Covid-19 and there has been a strong dose of imagination applied to make sure that the events take place albeit on often very changed formats.

Kelly Harrington, Eoghan McDermott and Brian Gregan are all on board as Ambassadors and will be appearing in a variety of events.

McDermott is hosting Dublin Sport and Wellbeing partnership’s Bingo night on Saturday when Harrington will be doing her special shadowboxing session to get families up off the couch.

“Being Active can be running around playing with your children, grabbing a walk with work colleagues on your lunch break, going outside and exploring the great outdoors – whatever gets you moving to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle,” states the Sport Ireland website and that is something which each of us should grab hold of every day but especially with focus during this week.

Take time away from the computer or the phone and if it is for an hour, ten minutes, or whatever you can amid a crowded day, do something for you that will benefit everyone around you.

If you cannot find that time for yourself then perhaps you need to evaluate what way your day is structured.  and for some maybe that will be a winner alone from this year’s range of activities.

There are a host of activities taking place in the real and the virtual world and through this week we will highlight a number of them here on Sport for Business.
