Fancy yourself as being able to carry a tune? Missing the ability to fill your lungs in the stadium and belt out Ireland’s Call. Fear not, Aviva could be about to make your weekend.
The Irish Rugby and stadium sponsor have launched a competition whereby the nation’s most loyal and passionate supporters will be given the chance to sing Ireland’s Call alongside the Irish Rugby team before they take on Wales in the first match of the Guinness Series, this Friday 13th November.
You won’t be alone. In fact, you will be joined by the 35 strong acapella Barbershop choir the Harmony Foundation.
To enter the competition, fans nationwide and abroad are invited to email irelandscall@whpr.ie on why they would love the chance to sing Ireland’s Call alongside the Irish Rugby team.
Big Screen
Successful applicants will have their version of the anthem played on the big screen as Ireland line up to sing Ireland’s Call prior to kick-off against Wales.
And if you go off-key as the music swells and rises you can always blame the microphone or the acoustics in your kitchen.
“It’s been fantastic to get back on the pitch these past few months, but one thing the players have missed is the support of the fans,” said Garry Ringrose who was on hand to launch the competition.
“Aviva Stadium is known as the fortress in international rugby, and it’s fantastic that technology allows that connection between the fans and the players to remain intact.”
“As proud sponsors of the IRFU and Aviva Stadium, the home of Irish Rugby, we’re delighted to be able to give fans the chance to will the team to victory over Wales this Friday,” added Lisa Bergin, Sponsorship manager at Aviva Ireland.
“The relationship the Irish players have with the fans is really special and, with this latest innovation we can ensure that home advantage and support is not lost.”
