The Bloody Sunday Commemorations came to a head on Saturday with a moving tribute at Croke Park. The story was told in a narration by Brendan Gleeson as 14 torches and pillars of light cut the night sky to remember those who died 100 years on.

Colm Mac an Iomaire played his haunting theme More than a Game live with Lisa Hannigan on vocals as the full video of those commissioned by the GAA and created by Fifty-Three Six played out on the large screens in the empty stadium and homes across the country.

GAA President John Horan and Ard Stirthóir Tom Ryan were joined in laying a wreath in front of Hill 16 by the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins and Taoiseach Micheál Martin.

It was a memorable, poignant and fitting tribute.
