The European Gymnastics Championships later this month will be covered extensively on RTÉ through mainstream TV and the RTÉ Player as a result of a deal signed with Eurovision Sport, the central body linking public service broadcasters across the continent.

Gymnastics Ireland has named a strong team of four to compete in the Championships which will take place in Switzerland between the 21st and 25th of April.

Rhys McClenaghan, Adam Steel, Meg Ryan and Emma Slevin will all take part while two Irish Judges will also be part of the event.

“After what has been a very difficult year it is great to see Irish gymnasts preparing to depart for international competition once again,” said Gymnastics Ireland CEO Ciaran Gallagher.

“The 2021 Europeans will be championships operated under tight Covid19 protocols developed through working together with our partners in European Gymnastics and Sport Ireland in the interests of protecting our team members as best as possible.”

“As the final Tokyo 2021 qualifier and a crucial Olympic Games preparation event gymnastics fans will be guaranteed a top-level sports entertainment experience, with the coverage guaranteed through Eurovision Sport bringing our stars to as wide an audience as possible.
