The European Gymnastics Championships get underway today in Basel, Switzerland with plenty of Irish interest.
This also serves as the final qualifier for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Meg Ryan and Emma Slevin will compete in the Women’s qualifiers which are due to take place at 5.30 pm Irish time.
Rhys McClenaghan, who has already secured his place for the Tokyo games, will compete alongside Adam Steele on Thursday at 4 pm Irish time.
The qualifiers can be viewed live on Gym TV with the finals being aired on RTÉ and the RTÉ Player.
The 24 gymnasts with the highest ranking obtained in the qualifying competition advance to the All-Around Final with a maximum of 2 gymnasts per country. The 8 highest ranked gymnasts in the qualifying competition per apparatus advance to the Apparatus Finals, again with a maximum of 2 gymnasts per country in each final.
Two Olympic qualification spots for each of the men and women will be determined based on the results of the all-around qualification competition.
A likely highlight of what to watch out for will be the Men’s Pommel final between 1-10 PM and 1-55 PM on Saturday.
