Allianz Ireland has launched the second video of the Allianz Courage Chronicles, a series of videos with the company’s long-standing Paralympic brand ambassadors Ellen Keane, Jason Smyth and Michael McKillop.

The Courage Chronicles pull back the curtain on the trials and tribulations of Ireland’s elite athletes as they set their sights on representing Ireland on the global stage during such uncertain times.

The second of the videos features 5-time Paralympic gold medallist Jason Smyth and can be watched in full below, together with that featuring Ellen Keane which we carried on its original release back in December.

The chronicles of Michael McKillop will be the third in the series in the coming weeks.

The video was filmed at the Sport Ireland Indoor Arena and High-Performance Gym, where Smyth is seen training for his fourth Paralympic Games.

He talks about the key attributes that have seen him become one of Ireland’s most successful and recognisable Paralympic athletes, including a strong sense of self-belief that there is no limit to what he can achieve.

Allianz Ireland has been a proud partner of Paralympics Ireland since 2010 and has been a champion of Paralympic sport in Ireland.

It sponsored the first-ever live broadcasts of Para Sport in Ireland during the London 2012 Paralympic Games on Eir Sport and again during the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games bringing coverage to the nation through RTÉ. This was perhaps the single greatest element in bringing the story of our Paralympians to life in a way that had never previously been the case.

At a global level, Allianz was announced earlier this year as the Worldwide Insurance Partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements from 2021 to 2028.

Through this partnership, Allianz will work with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee to develop innovative and integrated insurance solutions that support the Olympic and Paralympic Games, sports fans, national teams and athletes.

“All of us in Allianz Ireland are extremely proud of our long-standing partnership with Paralympics Ireland and have been in awe of the courage of our ambassadors Jason, Ellen and Michael to keep going despite the postponement of Tokyo 2020,” said Marketing Communications Manager with Allianz Ireland, Valerie Hedin.

“With Paralympics Ireland, we have a shared ambition to promote awareness of these elite athletes and Para sport as a whole. We’re delighted to launch the second video of The Courage Chronicles series today, focusing on Jason. His rise to the pinnacle of elite sport, and the subsequent incredible haul of medals make Jason a standout role model for Ireland’s young people, and we are very excited to watch him cement his legacy in Tokyo.”
