Horse Racing Ireland is to sponsor season two of the “Horse Racing Heroes” podcast produced by Mark Walsh.

The podcast focuses on one equine hero per episode and gained a worldwide audience when it was introduced last year.

“Mark deserves great credit for his “Horse Racing Heroes” podcast and we are delighted to be involved,” said Paul Dermody, CEO of HRI Racecourses and Director of Commercial and Marketing.

“It is rare to find a podcast which centres on just one horse and the people around it and we believe that Mark has landed on something very special.”

“HRI is determined to expand the reach of the podcast which has already gained many thousands of followers at home and abroad. We will share this brilliant content across our online and social channels, providing listeners and followers with even more in-depth and behind the scenes racing stories each fortnight.”

The new season of the “Horse Racing Heroes” podcast can be found on Apple Podcasts and on Spotify. It came out of the gates with a look back on the career of the immensely popular Faugheen and featured interviews with the gelding’s first trainer Andy Slattery as well as the jockeys that made him famous, Patrick Mullins, Ruby Walsh and current champion Paul Townend.

Episode two features owner Lar Byrne looking back on the wonderful career of Hardy Eustace, trained by the late Dessie Hughes.

“I’m thrilled to have HRI on board for the second season of the podcast,” said Walsh.

“With their support, I’m confident we can take the show to a new level. I’m excited about the guests I have lined up for the series – from Michael Owen to Brendan Duke to Francois Doumen – I’m sure we have plenty of variety and something for everyone.”

Others coming up in the series include Montjeu, Brown Panther and the Fellow.
