The momentum behind creating a Women’s British and Irish Lions Tour is growing with Royal London welcoming rugby players Claire Molloy of Ireland and Shaunagh Brown of England as ambassadors alongside the brand’s partnership with Lions.
The initiative aims to shine a light on women’s rugby, raising its profile in the wider sporting community and working to break down barriers currently holding women and young girls back from participating in rugby.
It will tie in neatly with Irish Rugby’s #NothingLikeIt branding as an umbrella across all activities relating to Women in Rugby.
Molloy and Brown took part in a photo shoot with photographer and filmmaker, Rankin, on 4th August at his studio in London, the shots of which you can see above.
They will also be taking part in a number of training sessions with development teams in the coming weeks.
Further details on the feasibility study exploring the establishment of a women’s Lions team are expected in the coming weeks.
“We’re delighted to be joining forces with Claire and Shaunagh to make a positive impact on the continued success of women’s rugby,” said Susie Logan, Group Chief Marketing Officer at Royal London.
“Claire and Shaunagh’s dedication and devotion to their sport are inspirational to women already enjoying the game and young girls looking to start their rugby journey.”
“This is a major step to making a viable Women’s Lions Tour and represents the women’s games never-ending march onwards towards gender equality in rugby,” said Molloy.
