Three-time Irish Olympian Natalya Coyle and four-time Irish Paralympian John Fulham yesterday launched the Liberty Race, a new virtual race taking place on and around International Day of People with Disability on December 3rd.
They both joined us on Sport for Business to talk about the event and about one thing to bear in mind when out training in the winter…
“You can choose whatever distance, it doesn’t matter what speed you do, who you are or how you do it.”
“To have a company like Liberty on board and to have them push out such an inclusive race is really groundbreaking.”
“Your skin is waterproof, so there’s no excuse really, you just have to get out there and do it.”
The virtual race has been held in Spain for the past 14 years and attracts 6,000 to take part annually.
This first Irish edition is in partnership between Liberty Insurance and the Irish Wheelchair Association.
It is open to individuals of all ages and abilities and seeks to support and promote an inclusive society for people with functional disabilities.
“A powerful and influential network of information and collaboration”
