It is a subject that raises debate and temperatures but how much do we know about transgender athletes and their right to take part in sport?

The answer to that will be a lot more if we tune into a Sporting Pride backed webinar with elite transgender athlete Chris Mosier.

Mosier was born a girl in 1980 and started to compete in Triathlon at the age of 29. The following year he self-identified as a transgender male and started competing in Male triathlons. In 2016 he became the first transgender athlete to represent Team USA in the Duathlon Age Group World Championship.

In 2020 he competed in the Olympic Trials for the 50 KM Walk but had to retire due to injury.

He has long been an advocate for transgender athletes and his voice has carried weight in the arguments that raged over whether male-born athletes should be allowed to compete in the sports in the gender with which they identify.

He will be interviewed by Phillipa Ryder of Sporting Pride as part of the GCN In and Out Festival of LGBTQ+ creativity and it promises to be a discussion that will shed light on an area where opinions can too easily be formed and damage done with careless commentary.

The session will be streamed live on YouTube and Facebook at 2 PM this Thursday, May 26th.

Tune in here to watch the session live.
