Munster Rugby have launched Access Munster, a new premium content platform that is available as a subscription service.
It is a move into ground familiar to the English Premier League and US Sport with a focus on exclusive content that will be attractive to committed fans.
The price point is €4 for a monthly pass and €42 for a full year, with additional discounts for members of the Munster rugby Supporters club and 10-year ticket holders at Thomond Park.
Content is frequently updated with special features on players, the High-performance Centre and special matchday insider content.
The platform will provide additional premium content in addition to the daily written and video content already posted online and on social media.
The freemium model of providing access to all fans and telling the Munster story as widely as possible is enhanced by the deeper dive that will be available for the modest additional subscription.
“Meeting our supporters’ needs was a key objective of this initiative,” said Munster Rugby CEO Ian Flanagan.
“We are always asked for additional ways supporters can get closer to Munster. We needed to factor in a wider offering, one that meets the needs of our supporters close to home, and abroad.”
“Engagement is at the heart of Access Munster as we deliver high-quality content that brings you inside the HPC, the squad environment and beyond. We have stepped up our access to the players and staff in highlighting the work that takes place behind closed doors each week and really brings supporters behind the scenes.”
“While we have a great group of athletes and support staff, we also have brilliant people and characters, with stories to tell. With this new platform, we get to showcase our people in a more meaningful and accessible way leading to closer relationships with our supporters.”
The mobile experience has been optimised so subscribers can enjoy videos anywhere, any time, whether on a computer, smartphone, or tablet.
Videos are available in high definition with the option to Chromecast video material onto larger screens as well.
The quality of the content is excellent with the production values very high.
It will be interesting to follow the development of the service and how many others might choose to get involved and monetise the content that teams are creating.
