The Victus Tour of Ulster taking place in Cavan in 2023 is to become Ireland’s first carbon-neutral cycling road race.
The race is being run by Titan Experience and BGN Sports Management and will take place around Cootehill over three stages from Saturday, April 29th to Monday, May 1st.
“We believe that becoming carbon neutral in 2023 and reducing our emissions is the right ambition to have and is very much in keeping with the development of TITAN’s wider strategy,” said CEO Eoin Conroy.
“While this will be our first Carbon Neutral event, we will be championing this on behalf of all our clients and partners. It’s our priority to walk the talk in our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint and make a positive impact while pushing our industry to do more about its environmental footprint.”
“We want to show our company’s commitment to decarbonisation and our desire to compensate for left-over impacts, and our journey to carbon neutrality starts now.”
“Our vision is to work toward a more sustainable and regenerative way of delivering events, and this vision is the foundation and guiding principle for future projects.”
“Victus is Latin for ‘nourishment’, and ‘that which sustains life’ – and this reflects the vision we have to grow positively our business, the projects and partners we have,” added Neil O’Brien, CEO of race partner Victus Energy.
“That has merged wonderfully with the BGN and TITAN teams over the years, and we can’t wait for more to come on the Victus Tour of Ulster – particularly as we work collectively to bring green credentials to this and other sporting events.”
“The Victus Tour of Ulster is one of the premier events on the Cycling Ireland calendar,” said Scott Graham, Operations Manager at Cycling Ireland.
“Their ambition to become the first carbon-neutral cycling event in Ireland is very welcome and underlines their innovative and progressive approach.”
“Cycling can play a key role in helping achieve the Government and Corporate Ireland’s Climate Action Plan target of reducing emissions by 51% by 2030.”
“Many events, communities and businesses are looking to play their part in reducing carbon emissions.”
Titan Experience has been behind some of the most iconic mass participation and lifestyle events in Ireland over the past decade including The Samsung Night Run, IRONMAN 70.3 and more recently the National Fitness Games UK and Ireland.
Their portfolio has also included the Great Dublin Bike Ride, the Cyclo-Cross World Cup last December, and a range of corporate client cycling events.
