Equus Live to cover all horse sports
Sponsorship from Glanbia and Alltech
‘Ripple effect on broad economy’
Equus LiveIreland has a long and successful association with the horse world and a new event covering all aspects of the industry will take place at Punchestown on November 2nd and 3rd.
Equus Live was officially launched on Tuesday by Minister for Agriculture, Food & the Marine, Simon Coveney. The event has secured headline sponsorship from Glanbia Agribusiness through its Gain Feeds brand and Alltech, partners of the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy.
The event has been brought together by Amber Byrne and Joanne Quirke. Byrne is one of the equine industry’s leading event professionals, with experience of managing some of Ireland’s largest equine events and history of having worked at Betfair and with Sponsorship Bureau International.
Quirke served for five years as Operations Manager at Fairyhouse Racecourse, the home of Irish Grand National.
The event has drawn funding from Cill Dara ar aghaidh, a body distributing grant income to encourage investment in the Kildare region; and support from across the equine world in Ireland.
“Equus Live as an excellent opportunity to tell the story of Irish racing to a wider equine audience and to encourage new visitors to any one of the 26 racecourses around the country, so they can experience the thrill of racing, said Michael O’Rourke, Director of Strategy at Horse Racing Ireland.
An indoor arena with competitions, displays and classes will be combined with approximately 120 shopping stands and a “Speakers Corner” featuring leading names in the different equine sports. There will be an innovation area for showcasing products that are new to the market.
“Horses, thoroughbreds and sport horses, are a very important driver of economic activity in this country,” said Simon Coveney, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine. “The range of products and services it encompasses has a ripple effect on the economy as a whole. Punchestown is an ideal location for this event with it’s close links to the thoroughbred and sport horse industries.”
“Equus Live 2013 will be a one-stop shop to learn all about the equine world, catering for all levels of interest. From the thoroughbred to the sport horse, from racing to reining; the event will be a celebration of all things equestrian,” said Amber Byrne.
“Equus Live promises to be a truly exciting and all-encompassing event which will appeal to every sector of equestrian sport,” added Colm Eustace, CEO of Glanbia Agribusiness.”
